Upon being named one of the best cities for jobs in 2017, a growing number of professionals are choosing to relocate to the Gateway City of St. Louis, Missouri. Forbes even reported the St. Louis job market as having one of the least competitive job markets in the entire nation. Even so, those certainly aren’t the only reasons attracting people to this mid-size city. It’s also loaded with first-class restaurants, hotels, attractions, entertainment and nightlife.

When St. Louis resident Tom Duggan was interviewed by the New York Times recently he said, “It’s a great place to raise a family, the schools in the county are good, and the real estate is reasonable. It’s a big small town.”

St. Louis: A Budget Friendly City with Many Attractions

Yet another aspect of the city that tends to hook visitors and those relocating is its budget-friendliness. The city boasts some of the best publicly-funded museums and attractions in the nation including the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Saint Louis Zoo and the Missouri History Museum. Some of the cities other popular venues and events are:

  • Forest Park – voted as USA Today’s #1 City Park. It’s also the seventh largest urban park in the United States is located on 1,293 acres in the center of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Forest Park is a popular year-round destination for both visitors and locals that use the bike and pedestrian path that circles the park. Annual events include the free Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis (late May/June) and LouFest, a two-day celebration of modern music and green living held in August.
  • Busch Stadium – located at 700 Clark Street, this baseball park is home to the St. Louis Cardinals and other special events like concerts.
  • The Gateway Arch – people from around the world visit the tallest man-made monument in the United States. In addition to being one of the most aesthetic destinations around the city, it also hosts everything from stargazing workshops and yoga to concerts and holiday celebrations.

Nevertheless, probably the greatest reason that renders St. Louis a great place to visit or live remains intangible. It’s the Midwestern values that aren’t present in many of the other metropolitan regions around the US. Most people in the Midwest are friendly, willing to help those in need, take pride in their work, and value their families.
